Sport & exercise psychology

In my view, every single person is unique in their personality and experiences. I take a client-centred approach to gain an understanding of each individual, and use this understanding to direct my work so that it is personal and meaningful. I believe that positive change can be sparked simply through cultivating self-awareness, and so I begin by guiding each person in deepening their knowledge of themselves and the interaction between their thought processes, emotions and actions.

My view is that psychology isn’t about “fixing” things, but empowering people to develop life-long mental skills that they can use to fulfill their potential and truly flourish.

Sport psychology

Sport psychology is about optimising the focus and mindset of individuals and teams, so that they are in the best possible position to tap into peak physical performance. Physical training is clearly essential, however the pressures of competitive sport also require the athlete to be motivated, self-aware, task-focused and in control of their reactions amongst other things.

I work with individual athletes, coaches and teams to improve or maintain performance and well-being through enhancing mental skills and facilitating constructive and healthy behaviours. Areas and skills that I work on include:

Exercise psychology is about the thought processes, emotions and actions underlying healthy lifestyles, exercise involvement and behaviour change.
